June 2014 at APL - Part 1

Happy Summer Everyone!  

Summer Library Hours are in effect from May 27 to August 30:
Monday & Wednesday                9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday        9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday                                      9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sunday                                        Closed
Computers shut down 15 minutes before closing.

For the safety of your children, please remember that children under age 9 must be accompanied to the library by a responsible caregiver and must stay with that caregiver during their visit.  Children age 9-12 may use the library on their own as long as they behave appropriately and follow library rules.  The library's Child Safety Policy is available for review at both services desks.

Knit and Crochet Club will continue to meet during the summer at 6 p.m. Meeting dates this month are:

Wednesday, June25 
This group is open to anyone who likes to knit or crochet, or anyone who wants to learn.  All ages and experience levels are welcome.  Bring a project to work on, share your expertise, and learn from others.

Library Board Meetings are open to the public and anyone who's interested is welcome to attend.  The Board meets on June 9 at 4 p.m.

Wisconsin Speaks!
The DARE (Dictionary of American Regional English) project is looking for lifelong Wisconsin residents or people who have lived in Wisconsin for at least 15 years.  Their goal is to find out what, if anything,has changed about the way Wisconsinites speak since the last Dialect Survey was completed in 1970.  Anyone between the ages of 18 and 118 may participate in this Online Survey of Wisconsin English.  For more information, go to www.dare.wisc.edu

Credit/Debit Cards Accepted at APL
Aram Public Library now offers credit/debit card payment service in the library for fines and fees totaling $10 or more.You must have your library card in order for the payment to be applied to the correct account.  This payment type may not be used for items sold by the Friends of APL including book sale items, bags, shirts, stationery, and coffee.

Friends News and Views
We are excited to welcome June with its warm sunny days, soft breezes and summer blooms on the way! With the close of another school year, June also ushers in thoughts and plans for vacations and begins a very exciting time at Aram Library as well . . . the Summer Reading Program filled with activities, prizes, and fun for all ages!

Just in time to add to the color and comfort of this special time, the Friends have purchased a brights, fresh and new love seat for the Children's area!  Chosen by Katherine to enhance and complement the wall and trim colors she selected when the room was repainted, we think it adds just the right spark to the ever popular "blackboard corner!" We hope you agree! come in, check it out and let us know what you think!
