December 2009 Library Events


Tiny Tots Time – Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
This program brings toddlers and caregivers together for an hour of stimulating experiences intended to nurture the bond between caregiver and child and to increase the caregiver’s awareness of their child’s development.

Preschool Story Time – Fridays @ 10 a.m.
Help your child prepare for school while having fun too! Meaningful literacy activities, such as reading, singing and playing with children, can impact a child’s brain development and subsequently help provide them with the pre-reading skills they need to start school.

Friends of APL Holiday Nut Sale – Saturdays
This year, the Friends of APL make holiday gift giving easy. Each Saturday from November 14 through December 19, the Friends will sell delicious praline pecans at the library between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. One-half pound of nuts in a decorative gift bag will sell for $5.

English Conversation Group – Wednesdays @ 1 p.m.
For students learning English as a second language, this is a chance for you to practice everyday conversation skills.

Bath Products Workshop – Saturday, December 5 from 9-11 a.m.
Learn to make bath products such as elegant homemade soap or fragrant bath salts. Create a home spa experience for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone special. All materials are provided. For age 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by caregivers. Registration required.

Home Buyer’s Workshop – Monday December 7 from 5:30-8 p.m.
Wonder what it takes to buy a home in today’s real estate market? This workshop, presented by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Consultant Betsy Angulo, will answer your questions and help you become a confident, educated homebuyer. Sign up at www.wellsfargo.com/register


Foreign Film – Tuesday, December 8 @ 6:30 p.m.
The Science of Sleep (Rated R, 105 minutes, in French, English & Spanish)
This Cannes Film Festival winner is a playful romantic fantasy set inside the topsy-turvy brain of Stephane, an eccentric young man whose dreams constantly invade his waking life. Stephane pines for next-door neighbor, but unable to find the secret to her heart while awake, he searches for the answer in his dreams.

Library Board Meeting – Thursday, December 10 @ 4 p.m.

Build a “Gingerbread” House - Saturday, December 12 from 9:30-11 a.m. or 12:30-2 p.m.
Put your construction skills to the test as you design and decorate a house made entirely out of cookies, candy and frosting. Yum! This year there are two delicious sessions to choose from. All materials are provided.

Santa at the Library – Saturday, December 19 @ 1 p.m.
Santa Claus is taking a break from his busy workshop to visit the Aram Public Library on Saturday, December 19. Kids, be prepared to tell him what you want for Christmas. Parents don’t forget to bring your cameras! This program includes a holiday activity and refreshments.

THE LIBRARY WILL BE CLOSED DECEMBER 24-26 AND DECEMBER 31-JANUARY 1.
