Babies in the library – that’s what Tiny Tots is all about! The program includes nursery rhymes and songs, book sharing, parenting information, and free play.
Preschool Story Time – Fridays at 10 a.m.

The program is free and registration is not required, but caregivers are expected to stay with children.
Friends of APL Holiday Nut Sale
The Friends of APL make holiday gift giving easy. Each Saturday from November 13 until December 18 (or while supplies last), the Friends will sell delicious praline pecans at the library between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. One-half pound of nuts in a decorative gift bag is only $5. These yummy treats are perfect as hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, and clutter-free gifts for family and friends.
Library Board Meeting – Thursday, December 2 @ 4 p.m.
Make a Gingerbread House – Saturday, December 4 @ 9:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
Kids (and some adults) love to play with food. Put your construction skills to the test as you design and decorate a house made entirely out of cookies, candy and frosting. Yum! This year there are two delicious sessions to choose from. All materials are provided.
Dessert Recipe Exchange – Monday, December 6 @ 6:30 p.m. (Registration Required)
Need some new ideas for holiday gift giving or entertaining? Here’s your chance to trade favorite recipes with other dessert lovers. Please provide us with a written recipe for your dessert by November 29. We’ll compile the recipes and then, on December 6, bring the prepared dessert (divided into sample size portions if appropriate) and we’ll have a dessert tasting party, plus you’ll go home with a copy of every recipe submitted.
Film – Tuesday, December 7 @ 3:30 p.m.
It’s a Wonderful Life (130 minutes, Not Rated)
George Bailey grows up in the small town of Bedford Falls, dreaming of adventure and travel, but circumstances keep him from fulfilling his dream. Frustrated by his life and haunted by an impending scandal, George prepares to commit suicide on Christmas Eve. A heavenly messenger arrives to show him a vision: what the world would have been like if George had never been born.
Holiday Origami Plus – Thursday, December 9 @ 6:30 p.m.
Deck the halls with . . . paper garlands? It’s not the same old song and this holiday season won’t be the same either when you decorate your house with handmade paper decorations. Make a variety of paper holiday crafts suitable for the whole family, from origami to paper chains.
Extreme Gingerbread for Teens– Saturday, December 11 @ 1:00 p.m. (Registration Required)
Why settle for an ordinary gingerbread house when you can build . . . anything you want -- the batmobile, a catapult, a sculpture of your mom. If you can dream it, you can make it out of gingerbread. Your design is limited only by your imagination. All materials are provided. Just bring your creativity!
UFO (Un-Finished Objects) Club – Monday, December 13 @ 6:30 p.m. & Thursday, December 23 @ 2 p.m.
Get together with other time-crunched crafters to work on your projects. Bring your needlework, scrapbook, paper crafts, or whatever you’re currently working on. This may be the incentive you need to finish up some homemade gifts before the holidays!
Santa at the Library – Saturday, December 18 @ 12:30 p.m.
Santa will be making his regular stop at the Delavan library to check up on all the boys and girls on his list. Kids, be prepared to tell him what you want for Christmas. Parents don’t forget to bring your cameras! This program includes a holiday activity and refreshments.
The library will be closed December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
