Between the Covers Book and Movie Reviews
Home by Toni Morrison - 4 stars
I haven't read a Morrison novel in a long time. This one had an easy flow -- much easier than I remember Beloved being. It is the story of a man's journey back home to save his sister from a medical monster. He is constantly haunted by his memories of war. This was an enjoyable and fast read. The ending wasn't clean, but thinking about it from a symbolic perspective will help. (Review by Susan)
The Pursuit of Marriage by Victoria Alexander - 4 stars
This book was just fun! It was a great book for the beach. Also it was very funny! I look forward to reading the rest in this series! (Review by Taffy)
Movie: Doubt - 4 stars
A movie about the head sister and principal not wanting any changes. This movie does shed some light on the fact that Catholic priests are so isolated and lonely that sometimes they do seek the wrong company. And even nuns sometimes have doubts about their faith in God. It shows that priests and nuns are human and are everyday people. (Review by Susan)
