REGULAR ACTIVITIES:

Books and Bagels – Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m.
This informal drop-in program gives you a chance to share a light breakfast and talk about what you’re reading with other book lovers. We’ll present some book talks on a mixed bag of titles, plus have some information for you about what’s happening this summer. Bakery, water and juice are provided. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are available for $.75 from the Friends Kiosk at the adult service desk.

LEGO Club – 1ST and 3RD Mondays at 4 p.m. (May 2 and 16)
Attention LEGO Lovers: Come to the library with your friends on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. At each meeting, we’ll give you a theme to build from, time to build individually or together, and a chance to share and display creations. Final projects will be displayed in the Youth Services Department.

Film – Tuesday, May 3 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.
Rabbit Hole starring Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckman (PG-13, 92 min.)
Synopsis: Becca and Howie Corbett are returning to their everyday existence in the wake of a shocking, sudden loss. Just eight months ago, they were a happy suburban family with everything they wanted. Now, they are caught in a maze of memory, longing, guilt, recrimination, sarcasm and tightly controlled rage from which they cannot escape. The journey is an intimate glimpse into two people learning to re-engage with each other and a world that has been tilted off its axis.  Popcorn and soda will be provided.

All You Can Read Buffet – Thursdays, May 5 and 19 at 3:30 p.m.
The All You Can Read Buffet is a book club by teens for teens. May 5 we’ll meet at Starbucks to talk about The Boy Who Dared by Susan Bartoletti. This book is the story of seventeen-year-old Helmuth Hübener, who was imprisoned for distributing anti-Nazi leaflets in October, 1942. It tells about his life and how he came to dedicate himself to bring the truth about Hitler and the war to the German people. Then, on May 19, head for McDonalds to share your thoughts on Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. Here’s the synopsis: Evie’s always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours. Books are available at the library and there’s more information about us at aramyouth.blogspot.com

Library Board Meeting – Thursday, May 5 at 4 p.m.
Library Board meetings are open to the public.

Book Discussion - Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m.
Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracey Kidder
Dr. Paul Farmer was brought up in a bus and on a boat. In medical school he found his life’s calling: to diagnose and cure infectious diseases and to bring the lifesaving tools of modern medicine to those who need them most. This book shows how radical change can be fostered in situations that seem insurmountable, and it also shows how a meaningful life can be created, as Farmer blasts through convention to get results. Books and discussion guides are available at the library. Anyone who has read the book is welcome to attend.

English Conversation Group – Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
For students learning English as a second language, this is a chance for you to practice everyday conversation skills.
