Family Film – Monday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m.
Hoot (Rated PG, 90 minutes)
The natural beauties of Florida find some young champions in Hoot, based on the young adult novel by Carl Hiaasen. While trying to resist being bullied on the school bus, Roy becomes intrigued by a barefoot boy running frantically along the sidewalk. Summer Library Program -- begins June 12
Saturday, June 12, is the day to begin your wet and wild summer library experience! Our kick-off event offers a chance to register for the reading group of your choice, pick up your “Make a Splash” bag full of cool stuff, make crafts and play games. The 2010 summer library program is open to everyone, from babies through adults, with programs, prizes, stories, reading clubs and more.

Classic Games – Mondays at 1:30 p.m. beginning June 14
What better way to spend a summer afternoon than playing games with friends and family. Chess, checkers, board games, card games and jigsaw puzzles will be provided.

Lapsit Story Time – Tuesdays at 9 a.m. beginning June 15
Tiny Tots Time – Tuesdays at 10 a.m. beginning June 15
These programs bring caregivers and babies or toddlers together for an hour of stimulating experiences intended to nurture the bond between caregiver and child and to increase the caregiver’s awareness of their child’s development. Lapsit is for babies who are not walking. Tiny Tots is for toddlers.

Pirate Paaaaarty! – Tuesday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m.
Ahoy there mateys! Join our crew for some piratical fun and games at this family event. Get yer pirate name and tattoo, play Pin the Parrot on the Pirate, and join yer shipmates in some rollicking games. Shiver me timbers! We’ll be havin’ some stories and makin’ crafts, too.

Cuentos y Artes en Español (Spanish Story Time)

Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. beginning June 16
For Spanish-speaking families with children of all ages. Enjoy stories, songs, crafts and other activities in this hour of reading fun.

Adult Book Discussion – Wednesday, June 16 at 7 p.m.
This month we’ll be discussing the work of author Carl Hiaasen. Choose any of his books to read. A variety of titles is available at the library.

Preschool Story Time – Fridays at 10 a.m. beginning June 18
Help your child prepare for school while having fun too! Meaningful literacy activities, such as reading, singing and playing with children, can impact a child’s brain development and subsequently, help provide them with the pre-reading skills they need to start school.

Dads and Donuts – Saturday, June 19 from 10-11 a.m.
Everyone knows Dads and donuts go together. What better way to show Dad how much he means to you than to treat him to a free Saturday breakfast of . . . DONUTS! The library will provide donuts, fruit and beverages; you provide the Dad.

The Polka Guy – Tuesday, June 22 at 1:30 p.m.
Uncle Mike brings a little bit of culture, education, and a whole lot of fun to the library with his Pint Size Polkas program. The audience takes part in a geography quiz, wears various hats, learns dance steps and sings along to Uncle Mike’s catchy polka tunes.

Kids Book Discussion – Wednesday, June 23 at 3 p.m.
The Maze of Bones by Rick Riordan (Book 1, The 39 Clues series)
When their beloved Aunt Grace dies, Dan, 11, and Amy, 14, are faced with an unusual choice: inherit one million dollars or participate in a perilous treasure hunt. Against the wishes of their guardian, Dan and Amy accept the challenge. Pitted against other Cahill teams, who will stop at nothing to win, the siblings decipher the first of 39 clues, working together to solve puzzles and survive dangers. Parents who have read the book may attend with the permission of their children.

Papermaking – Thursday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m.
Papermaking is the ultimate recycling! Learn to make your own unique and beautiful paper at this hands-on workshop. All supplies will be provided. For age 12 through adult.

Haiti Mission Trip – Thursday, June 24 at 7 p.m.
Sponsored by the Friends of Aram Public Library, this free program features local missionary Cyndy Schuetz . Since 1988, Cyndy and her husband Tom have traveled on dozens of mission trips to Haiti with Friends of the Children, a non-profit organization that organizes medical, dental and health education missions. Learn about life in rural Haiti, the work of this missionary group, and the effects of this year’s earthquake.

Getting Excited About Science – Tuesday, June 29 at 1:30 p.m.
This fun science show uses humor, music and audience participation to teach about science. Science experiments evoke wonder and laughter during this high energy show.

“Eclipse” Movie Release Party – Tuesday, June 29 from 8-11 p.m.
All Twilight saga fans age 13 and up are invited to celebrate the release of the movie “Eclipse.” Create a Team Edward or Team Jacob t-shirt and test your memory with Twilight trivia. Then watch “New Moon” to prepare yourself for the next film in the series. Refreshments, games and other activities plus a prize drawing round out the evening.
